Join Ranger Eric for a guided hike on the Preserve trails to look for and learn about reptiles of Sonoran Desert riparian woodlands. Along the way, we will discuss identification, ecology, and safety around venomous reptiles. We will hike at least 1 mile on mostly flat, but sometimes sandy or uneven terrain. Please wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water, electrolytes, and snacks for yourself. Restrooms are available at the parking lot. We may cut the hike short if the weather gets hot that day.

Join Ranger Eric for an after-hours trail walk to look for and learn about the nocturnal critters of the Preserve! Wildlife seen on past walks have included bats, ringtails, foxes, skunks, javelinas, deer, owls, scorpions, insects, and other cool creepy crawlies! Please bring your own flashlights and blacklights if you have them, but some will be available to borrow. Please carry your own water. Trails are rated as easy and are mostly flat, but there may be some uneven or sandy surfaces. We will hike about 1-1.5 miles.

Enjoy a roughly 2-mile hike on the Palm Lake, Mesquite Meander, Lions, and Willow Walkway trails with Ranger Kevin as we look for all kinds of wildlife along the way. Some animals we may see include mule deer, javelina, squirrels, rabbits, various species of birds and perhaps a reptile or two. Trail is rated easy, with very little loose rock, uneven terrain and elevation change, though some places may have thick sand. Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Hats and sunscreen are also highly recommended. Restrooms are available near the Visitor Center. No pets, please.

The hike will be roughly 2 miles and include sections of River Ramble and Lykes Lookout Trails taking you from riparian habitat and transitioning you to Sonoran Desert environments and stunning views of the river. The trail goes from sandy flat trail to steep rocky trail and is rated as moderate. Make sure to have A bottle of water and sturdy shoes are all you will need for this hike. If balance is an issue for you a walking stick or trekking poles can give you more stability. Please no pets.
