The Wickenburg Breast Cancer Network is once again organizing the Wickenburg Walks to “Boot” Breast Cancer walk this October. This year’s theme is “It Takes a Team.”

People of all ages are welcome to enjoy this easy-paced walk through historic downtown Wickenburg and scenic Simpson’s Ranch. Participants are invited to dress in outlandish or creative costumes on the day of the walk.

Wickenburg Breast Cancer Network, Inc. (WBCN) is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization that provides educational and emotional support as well as financial assistance for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer in Wickenburg and 13 surrounding rural communities.

Join Ranger Eric for a guided bird walk to look and listen for resident and migrant species within the diverse desert riparian habitat of the Hassayampa River Preserve. Along the way we will discuss how to identify birds by sight and sound, and about the behavioral and ecological traits that make them unique. Some binoculars are available to borrow. K9 Konnection and Viper Voidance will be holding a rattlesnake avoidance class to teach your pooches to stay away from them. The pooches are taught to detect rattlesnakes through sight, smell, and sound. Live rattlesnakes in secure cages are used and your pooch is 100% safe. The cost is $98 for first-time training and for previously trained by Viper Voidance a retest is $45.

Make new friends and learn to connect the dots of dementia! This day of fun activities will help children explore what their family is experiencing at home while connecting with other kids affected by dementia.

Who should attend?
Children ages 5-13 and teens ages 14-18 living with a family member with dementia.

When?
Saturday, October 22
Children: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Teens: 10-11 a.m. Join us for a dementia simulation and discussion to learn how to interact with family members with dementia.
Parents may attend an option workshop from 10-11 a.m. to learn how to support their children.

The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Saguaro Theater to bring you the 1975 cult-classic “Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Join Brad, Janet, Eddie and the outrageous Dr. Frank N. Furter on Tuesday, October 25 for a special one-night-only showing of this throwback film. 
 
Advance tickets are available at the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce for a discounted rate of $10 for general admission. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $15 each. Prop bags help add to overall event experience and cost $5.

Money raised from the event will benefit scholarships for the local graduating Class of 2023.
